A soft, generous wine from a warmer vintage, giving ripe fruit, cocoa highlights and sweet oak spice. Grenache 56%, Shiraz 30% and Mourvèdre 13%. --- A classic blend of blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre inspired by the great win...
Estate fruit was sourced from our dry-grown ‘Rhône Block’ which has a sloping north/north-westerly aspect. Varieties were individually hand-picked with a crop level of under 1.7 tonne per acre. Grenache (56%), Shiraz (30%) and Mourvèdre (13%) fermented separately in open top stainless-steel vats with a mix of wild and cultured yeasts. Selected vats were left on skins for extended maceration (up to 21 days). After fermentation, the individual vats were basket-pressed and transferred by gravity to barrel for maturation in a mix of French oak barriques (second fill and older) for 18 months prior to assembly. No fining or filtration.
Tasting Note
Richly perfumed with a bouquet of spice and dark fruits, evolving into soft bramble, chocolate and fleshy dark cherry. Fresh acidity on the palate complements mouth-filling flavours of red and dark fruit with pops of subtle oak spice and a fine, persistent tannin structure that yields an elegant finish. Juicy and giving, this is a delicious, all-purpose wine that shows its best in youth.
