Initially savoury, with notes of gravel, curry leaves and pepper, the nose slowly reveals delicate aromas of tart cranberries, wild strawberries and morello cherries. These crunchy red fruits translate into richer cherries and blood plum on the palate, where whispers of incense and char from maturation in oak are so well woven into the fruit that you might just miss them. Supple, silken tannins and vibrant acidity result in an almost ethereal mouthfeel that culminates in a long, savoury finish.
96+ Points, Halliday Wine Companion
"From a high-density, half-acre block. A light garnet. Quite different to the other new-release pinots from Pimpernel. This one is meatier and more savoury. Aromas of brambly red fruits, sous bois and wild rose lead onto the intense and firmly structured palate. Clearly a very good wine but one that will, I imagine, unfurl slowly over the next decade." - Philip Rich
