Fleshy fruit, savoury complexity and beautifully integrated acidity bring balance to this textural, full-bodied Rhône-inspired white. --- The legacy of Marsanne in the Yarra Valley and across Victoria is well established for its cellar-wort...
Our Marsanne was planted in a single block on a north-west facing slope; low-yielding vines, they produce 1.0 tonne per acre on average. Ripe, hand-harvested bunches were lightly crushed and allowed brief skin and stalk, then gently basket-pressed to tank and inoculated. Juice was gravity-fed to barrel to complete fermentation. Matured on lees in old French oak for 20 months with light lees stirring and spontaneous malolactic conversion for added richness and complexity.
Tasting Note
Aromas of hay and honeysuckle are layered across a backdrop of lemon, green apple and white peach. A bright seam of is balanced with concentrated fruit and flavours of savoury oatcake, and complements the palate’s soft, full mouthfeel. The finish is long and textural, with persistent notes of yellow apple. Generous and ready to drink now, this wine’s layered fruit, savoury undercurrent and bold structure promises intriguing evolution with time in the bottle.
